Update on services at Westshore AVI Health Centre and COVID-19

Dear Patients/Clients of Westshore AVI Health Centre,

Due to concern about the potential spread of the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) and wanting to keep you healthy, we are going to be rescheduling appointments for the period of March 16 - March 27. During this time, prescriptions will be faxed to the pharmacy and you will pick them up there as usual.

If you feel that you need an appointment with one of the doctors, nurse, social worker or peer support during this period of time, we can make arrangements to connect with you through video conferencing on your smart phone or telephone call. If an in-person visit is required, we will be at the health centre to assist you, but hours may be reduced during this period. Contact us via telephone or email and we will determine if an in-person visit is the best option.

For information on COVID-19 please refer to these trusted sources of information:

The symptoms of COVID-19 are similar to other respiratory illnesses, including the flu and common cold.

  • Fever
  • Cough
  • Feeling short of breath or difficulty breathing

If you have any symptoms consistent with COVID-19 infection, DO NOT present to the WestShore AVI Health Centre. Instead, self-isolate at home, visit the websites above or call 8-1-1 for the most up to date information. If symptoms are severe, call  9-1-1 or present to the Emergency department.

If you need Naloxone kits or harm reduction supplies, please ask at the front desk of the Westshore Urgent Care Centre, (582 Goldstream Ave in Langford) or the Health Unit (6672 Wadams Way, Sooke), or call 250-360-6315 to request a meeting with an Outreach Worker.

Our rescheduling of regular appointments may extend beyond March 27, and we will provide updates on any changes in this policy.

Thank you for your patience and understanding. We hope that you and those around you are well during this time.

Best wishes,

Westshore AVI Health Centre Team
