Prism Wellness’ primary focus is to reduce HIV, Hepatitis C, STIs, and stigma in the Southern Vancouver Island communities of gender and sexual minorities. By promoting queer and trans health in these, our communities, we are accomplishing that goal.
We encourage our community to make informed choices about their own sexual and substance use practices and wellness. Sex and harm reduction education to reduce HIV, hepatitis C and other sexually transmitted infections is part of our mission. It is paired with the cultivation of attitudes and behaviours that support safer, strong and stable foundations for overall community health and wellbeing.
By taking good care of ourselves, we take good care of our communities.

Group Support & Workshops
Prism Wellness is committed to offering a safe environment for people to talk about the sex they’re having, and how it affects their sexual, physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual health and wellbeing.
We facilitate various group meetings in the Greater Victoria area, one-off social events, health & wellness info sessions across Southern Vancouver Island, and conferences and peer training in Victoria and throughout the island. Some examples of our regular group programming are:
Peer Leadership Program
In our Peer Leadership Program, participants build empowered healthy communities and fight the stigma, discrimination, homophobia and transphobia that stand in the way of justice and health for 2SLGBTQIA+ communities.
Some of the Peer Leadership series offerings are for everyone in the rainbow community. Other series are for specific groups within the community (ex. folks who PnP (Party n Play), gender variant folks, etc).
Alumni of our Peer Leadership series are invited to share their knowledge as Peer Educators, while getting paid a stipend to do so.
For more information and to pre-register for our next series, email prismwellness@avi.org.
Biannual Conference
The conference is held every other year at various locations on Vancouver Island, BC. 2SLGBTQIA+ folks impacted by HIV and Hepatitis C gather for workshops and to reflect upon the diversity and intersectionality of issues that affect our communities.
Wellness Groups
These community-based groups are for folks in the 2SLGBTQIA+ communities to come together for support and engagement about issues that are prevalent in the community.
Current groups include:
Gender Variant Drop-In Group:
A monthly drop-in space covering different topics and activities for the diverse array of trans, non-binary, genderqueer, Two Spirit, and otherwise gender variant individuals in the Southern Vancouver Island area.
Meetings currently run virtually on the last Thursday each month from 6-8pm.
