AVI Health and Community Services (AVI) provides community education and health services to marginalized populations in four centres across Vancouver Island.
AVI promotes health, dignity and wellbeing to individuals with Hepatitis C virus (HCV) and who often face barriers to care.
Those impacted by Hepatitis C virus (HCV) often appear asymptomatic, even after their disease has progressed to cause significant internal symptoms. AVI offers an important venue for information and healthcare for many of the individuals impacted by Hep C in our communities – and offers vital services such as accessible food programs. Without adequate nutrition, the impact of Hep C can progress further. Hep C has a long list of damaging effects that include metabolic disorder, increased risk of stroke and heart disease, changes to neurotransmitters, as well as other difficult issues that lead to a reduction in quality of life. AVI is providing important information and support to those with HCV.
