Since 1986, AIDS Vancouver Island has been working to improve the lives of people living with HIV or AIDS and to prevent more individuals from becoming infected with the virus.
We provide support for people living with HIV and/or hepatitis C in all of our offices through our Positive Wellness program.
We are committed to education - providing prevention information via our 1-800 numbers and through our locations across the Island. We also provide workshops in various settings, from homeless shelters, to youth groups, to prisons.
Our Men's Wellness Program promotes men's wellness and creates spaces for men to talk about being gay, queer, bi or questioning, and how that impacts on their sexual, physical, emotional, psychological and spiritual health and well being.
AVI offers harm reduction services in Victoria, Courtenay, Campbell River and Port Hardy. In Courtenay and Campbell River these services are offered at AVI’s offices and in Victoria and the Port Hardy and Port MacNeil areas the service is mobile. Street Outreach Services in Victoria offers harm reduction services, such as needle exchange, support and referral, to people who use drugs by injection.
Throughout the North, Central and South Vancouver Island Health Areas AIDS Vancouver Island is responding to these demands with a wide range of programs and services. Please see the menu on the left hand column for more information about our programs in each area.
