Private Parts
Kealey of "Communications" posted information for conference on Friday the 14th. Turns out deadline for abstract submissions is the Monday the 17th. Hardly fair--if not incompetent--for those of us rural people relying on web information, and who might want to submit. The conference sounds interesting, but disorganized.
More private parts
One will hope for the best. Given that this organization's CEO has pronounced a shortage of funds, who is funding this conference?
Dear billybuns, Your conce
Dear billybuns,
Your concern is a valid one. The deadline for abstracts is now extended until Thursday, January 20th.
A call for abstracts went out in early December to the Men's Wellness email list. If you'd like to be part of this anonymous, confidential list, send a note to: mwp@avi.org.
On Tuesday, February 1, registration and information on the conference will be distributed to the Men's Wellness email list and posted to AVI's web site.
If you have any further concerns and/or questions, please contact either myself, at kealey@avi.org, or the Men's Wellness Program at mwp@avi.org.
Thank you for bringing this to our attention,

Concerns
Thank you for addressing this promptly.
sincerely,

Other concerns
And presumably community concerns that are not addressed by AVI (a question about who funds the conference) are not valid.
Funding for AVI "Private Parts" Conference
Even though we are not always able to respond to each web-based inquiry right away, each inquiry, and each person, is important to us. We do not have the capacity to respond to web-based inquiries in an immediate manner. The web site is checked throughout the week and we will endeavour to reply within the week. Unfortunately, deadlines, often for funding, will sometimes prevent us from responding quickly.
AIDS Vancouver Island is a charitable non-profit. Our goal is to make every effort to be open and transparent to both our clients and volunteers but also to the larger public.
AIDS Vancouver Island, as with many non-profits, operates within a tight budget. We are sometimes successful in obtaining funds from granting bodies to either augment an existing program or to establish a new one. AVI has obtained one-time funding for the MWP's conference, Private Parts, from Health Canada as part of its Strategy on HIV/AIDS, AIDS Community Action Program.
If you would be interested in donating to AIDS Vancouver Island to help support our programming, either go to the link Donate Now or contact us directly at info@avi.org or 250-384-2366.
Thank you for your enquiry,
