Gay Dad's taken advantage of in Child Custody
Dad's are getting the short end when it comes to custody of children. Courts tend to side with Mothers and Fathers have to prove they should have access.
Even with laws protecting the rights of gay parents, laws still force men to go to court to get access to their children.
Gay men, even if low income can not get legal aid. The case is not the same for everyone. Most women do have access to legal aid.
Many of the men I see have just left or about to leave their marriage after spending years pretending to be something they were not. They did this due to societal pressure. You marry and have have kids.
These men love their children, they have a right to access to their children. The law does say they have a right, yet supports needed to ensure it happens are non-existent.
Our society has been providing supports to some and not for others. It's time supports for men were created and funded. Do any of you agree or disagree with me?

Dads say divorce laws not fair

Divorce is tough, and it's especially difficult when kids are involved. Politicians have tried to create laws that fairly solve custody battles. But one local Dad thinks the law is letting fathers down. To protect his kids, he doesn't want us to use his name. But this local Dad spent Fathers Day alone, and not by his own choice. He believes it's his ex's way of getting back at him and it hurt him tremendously. He says, he pays double the child support and its' been his own choice. Steve Osbourne with Fathers 4 Justice tells News1130, there are problems with how the law is applied. He says, the Divorce Act is actually gender neutral and there's nothing wrong with the way it's written. But unfortunately, the interpretation in courts comes out quite a bit differently. Sadly, Osbourne says Ottawa is not interested in their fight.
