International Overdose Awareness Day

Event Date:
Thursday, August 31st, 2017 6:00pm to 8:00pm
Event Type:
AVI Event

August 31 marks International Overdose Awareness Day. Here on the territory of the Lekwungen speaking people (Victoria), home of the Songhees and Esquimalt First Nations, we will come together in our grief, our loss and our determination to honour those we still love and have lost to overdose.

6pm: Rally together to call for immediate action to save lives. Let's raise our voices together to call on those in power to move swiftly on evidence-based, harm reduction strategies that we in the community know work!

A quiet vigil will follow to send our love to those we have lost. Let's honour our memories of them together.

**Please contact organizers at ioad2017vic[at]gmail.com if you're interested in helping out as a volunteer.

**A pre-event overdose prevention and response training will be offered at 4:30pm and free naloxone (Narcan) kits will be available. More info about the training here: https://www.facebook.com/events/309914902804592/
