Free Workshop on PEP & PrEP

Are you PrEP’d? An update on PEP and PrEP on Vancouver Island.

AVI’s Men’s Wellness Program invites you to attend a free workshop on PEP and PrEP.

This workshop will take place at City Studio, 742 Johnson Street, just across the street from AVI’s office, and just up from the 7-11 at Douglas and Johnson. We will be meeting at 6:00 PM on August 31st.

PEP stands for Post-Exposure Prophylaxis and can be taken after an individual potential exposure to H.I.V. to reduce one’s risk of becoming H.I.V. positive. PREP stands for Pre-Exposure Prophylaxis and can be taken on a consistent basis to continually reduce one’s risk of becoming H.I.V. positive.

Our program focuses on the health of gay, bi, pan, queer, two-spirit and other men who have sex with men (including trans guys, cis guys and other masculine identifying folks) – but all are welcome to attend this workshop. City Studio is wheelchair accessible and has one single person washroom - but please contact us directly if you have any accessibility questions (emails below).

If you have lived experience accessing PrEP on Vancouver Island, and would be willing to share your experience with our community at the workshop, or are interested in co-facilitating the workshop, please get in touch with us directly at jonathan.degenhardt@avi.org and/or nathan.grills@avi.org. Modest financial recognition as a Peer Leader could be pursued.

If you would like to be kept up to date about AVI’s Men’s Health and Wellness Program’s future events and services -such as educational workshops, social events, testing nights, newsletters, conferences, and even opportunities to become a Peer Leader yourself, please sign up to receive our newsletter here: http://eepurl.com/bM48F5
