Can I get HIV from playing with sex toys?

A high risk of HIV transmission exists from sharing sex toys, when they have been inserted into the anus or vagina of one partner and then inserted into the anus or vagina of another partner.
The risk of HIV transmission, or of the transmission of other STDs from sharing sex toys can be reduced by proper cleaning of sex toys after each use or making sure each individual has their own toys that remain unshared.
