Job Posting: ACCESS Capital Campaign Coordinator

Function and purpose of job:
The Campaign Coordinator coordinates the implementation and ongoing operation of the ACCESS Health Centre Capital Campaign. The ACCESS Health Center is a collaborative partnership of the Victoria Cool Aid Society and AIDS Vancouver Island. Located in downtown Victoria, the ACCESS Health Center will bring a range of health, social and educational services for marginalized people under one roof. Over two million dollars in government funding has been secured for this project, with an additional $1.8 million to be raised in a capital campaign.

Reporting to the Executive Directors of the partner organisations and the Campaign Cabinet, this position will coordinate the day-to-day operations of the Capital Campaign The Coordinator will organize and attend all relevant meetings and serve as the central point for all campaign activities. The Coordinator will oversee campaign-related training of staff and volunteers, manage the production of campaign publications/materials, research prospective donors, track campaign activity, help set up and maintain a database, and provide necessary staff support for campaign meetings and activities.

Employment Terms:
The Capital Campaign Coordinator will be employed on a term basis for a period of ten to twelve months at 32 hours a week. The anticipated start date is April 15th 2008.

Salary Level:
$24 per hour plus 12% in lieu of vacation and extended benefits.

Job Responsibilities:
• Coordinate the development of the capital campaign to ensure critical fund development processes are carried out in a timely manner in accordance with already established workplan.
• Develop and implement procedures in accordance with the already established Memorandum of Understanding on Campaign Administration Guidelines and Procedures.
• Liaise with KCI, the agency contracted to provide fund development consulting support for the campaign.
• Manage internal communication processes between the two lead agencies.
• Assist with the identification and development of corporate, community and individual prospects for fundraising.
• Compile and maintain lists of prospective donors and priority importance.
• Process donations and prepare acknowledgement letters and other correspondence.
• Maintain foundation, corporation and individual donor files.
• Administer a donor mailing list and database which respects the privacy and confidentiality of donor information.
• Provide administrative support and convene regular meetings of the Campaign Cabinet and the Joint Agency Working Group.
• Prepare regular reports on progress, budgets, receipts and expenditures related to fundraising and the management of fundraising activities.
• Coordinate the planning and execution of special fundraising and donor recognition events.
• Develop a communication plan to promote the ACCESS Health centre to its donors and maximize public awareness of the campaign activities.
• Coordinate the design, production and distribution of marketing and communication materials for the campaign.
• Develop and provide training for staff and volunteers as necessary.
• Maintain the ACCESSHealthCentre.ca website.

Qualifications and Experience:

Education
• Post secondary education in a relevant field and/or an equivalent combination of education and relevant work experience.
• A certificate in fund development, public relations or communications is an asset.

Knowledge, skills and abilities
• A minimum of three years' experience in a fund development capacity preferably including experience working on a capital campaign
• Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint and database management
• Excellent verbal and written communications skills
• Ability to present information concisely and effectively, both verbally and in writing
• Ability to organize and prioritize work
• Ability to work independently with little supervision
• Excellent analytical, organizational and time management skills.
• Ability to exercise a high level of tact and discretion in both internal and external interactions. Ability to motivate and lead a team and work as a team member.
• Ability to create and maintain good working relationships with a variety of internal and external constituents.
• Knowledge of federal and provincial legislation affecting charities and non-profit organizations.
• Knowledge of the Canadian Centre for Philanthropy's Ethical Fundraising and Financial Accountability Code.
• Experience coordinating projects with multiple partners.
• Understanding of health and social issues affecting marginalised communities.
