10th Annual Nanaimo AIDS Walk: A huge success
The 10th Annual Nanaimo AIDS Walk held on Sunday September 25th at Maffeo Sutton Park was a huge success.
More than 175 people were in attendance up from last year by at least 50 people. "We are thrilled to see a growing commitment to HIV/AIDS in our community," says Dana Becker Executive Assistant and co-organizer of the event. More than twice the amount of money was raised bringing the total to over $11,000.
Speakers included a member of Nanaimo City Council, Dianne Brennan, and AIDS Vancouver Island’s Executive Director, Miki Hansen. Some teams that raised funds and walked include the Malaspina Nursing students and student union, MAC Cosmetics, Tillicum Lelum, ADAPT, the AVI Health Centre and many more.
