Welcome to the AIDS Vancouver Island (AVI) Forums. To participate in the AVI Forums you must agree to abide by some basic guidelines. Please note that these guidelines may be updated by AVI from time to time.

The main purpose of the forums is to share information related to HIV, AIDS, sexually transmitted infections and harm reduction, as well as the services provided by AVI. Questions, comments or feedback relating to AVI management, staff, Board of Directors or individual programs should be sent to the Executive Director (miki.hansen@avi.org).

Site participants cannot post material that is racist, sexist, homophobic, defamatory, illegal, harassing or threatening to others in nature. We expect forum participants to show respect for others, their views and opinions, even if you disagree with them.

Participants cannot advertise or solicit other members to buy, sell or peruse any products or services through these forums.

Participants cannot post, distribute or reproduce in any way any copyrighted material, trademarks, or other proprietary information without first obtaining written consent of the copyright holder, unless explicit permission is given through a Creative Commons copyright license.

The opinions posted on the AVI forums are solely those of their authors and AVI does not guarantee the accuracy, integrity, quality or completeness of any of the messages.

AVI reserves the right to monitor the forums to ensure adherence to these guidelines. AVI has the right to remove or edit any post and to disable user accounts when these guidelines are not adhered to.

Your right to privacy

Your right to privacy is very important to us. We recognize that providing us with personal information is an act of trust. Therefore, we have created a privacy policy to protect your personal information. This policy covers website(s) owned or operated by AIDS Vancouver Island. We encourage you to take the time to read this privacy policy and those of any website you visit. In general, when you visit our website and access information, you remain anonymous. We do not require you to register or provide personal information in order to view our site. However, if you choose to contribute to our website, you must register by providing a valid email address. Our site's registration form requires users to give us contact information (like a username and an email address) for you to get access to our site. All other information is optional.

Duty to protect

AIDS Vancouver Island has a duty to protect the confidentiality of contributor information. AIDS Vancouver Island tracks web usage to evaluate how well our web pages are reaching and serving the needs of visitors. AIDS Vancouver Island does not sell or distribute any contributor and/or prospective contributor information to individuals or outside organizations.

Disclosing information

AIDS Vancouver Island may disclose user information in special cases when we have reason to believe that disclosing this information is necessary to identify, contact, or bring legal action against someone who may be causing injury to or interference with (either intentionally or unintentionally) AIDS Vancouver Island's rights or property or anyone else that could be harmed by such activities. AIDS Vancouver Island may disclose user information when we believe in good faith that the law requires it.
