MARK YOUR CALENDAR!

positively AFRICA –VIDEA are excited to announce our second annual Water Walk on Sunday, May 27^th, 2012.

This fun, team-building event raises awareness about local and global water issues and is a fundraiser to support water and health-related programs at Nissi Orphanage and Osopet Community-based Organization in Kenya.

The Challenge:

Form a team of up to 10 people. Teams walk 10 km around Elk/Beaver Lakes, carrying buckets of 10 litres of water. This symbolizes the daily trek to the river that girls and women must make to fetch water.

This week, AVI was visited by a representative from HealthLink BC to let us know about their services. AVI has a 1-800 number and we are able to answer questions about sexual health, HIV and hepatitis C, and safer drug use. HealthLink BC offers telephone support from nurses, pharmacists and more -- which you can access during the hours that your doctor or pharmacist's offices are closed.

AVI would like to thank the M·A·C AIDS Fund for their recent announcement that they will be supporting our Treatment and Referral Project - a program that supports people who use drugs in accessing the tools and assistance they need to live healthier lives.
